bEpilepsy is a disorder that is both unique and unpredictable. Scientists are still trying to understand it, so there is no one treatment that works for everyone. Fortunately, there are some treatments that work for some people and CBD may be one of them. Before I tell you about my experience with using CBD for epilepsy, there is some important information I feel you should know. Full disclosure: just because I decided to try hemp oil doesn’t mean it’s safe for everyone. In fact, some could argue what I did was reckless. But I’m aware of my condition, and more importantly, I told my doctor what I was about to do.

I suggest you always let your doctor know before you experiment with CBD hemp oil for your condition

I’m a medical marijuana patient and I’ve used CBD oil for several years. I reduce the dose of one of my seizure medications to prevent side effects, and when I heard about CBD hemp oil, I decided to try it.

I documented my experience, but please do not rely on me for clinical research. I only want to provide light on a product with a lot of ambiguity surrounding it. I have epilepsy and the drug being studied is new. There is no peer-reviewed research available, so all I can provide are my own experiences.

That being said, there have been instances where people with epilepsy successfully used CBD hemp oil to control seizures, so I wasn’t too nervous.

I also used it a bit differently, which I’ll get into later.

My medical background before

It seems, from a scientific perspective, that THC is the most useful cannabinoid for pain relief. CBD, on the other hand, has shown to be best for anxiety and depression. Research has revealed that when THC and CBD are combined, they have more of an effect than when used separately.

I’ve had a hard time coping with my prescription drugs and the pain they cause. I decided to try CBD hemp oil in an effort to reduce the side effects, so I took double my dosage each day (8:00 AM) for two weeks. I used a syringe to accurately measure the amount.

I woke up at the same time as usual, ate my regular breakfast, and went about the day. On day 1 and 2, I was very stressed, even though I had little to worry to worry about from a medical or safety standpoint.

I felt I could breathe a little easier as of day three. I have now used the device for five days without any issues. This seems promising but there are some caveats to mention.

Variables

Historically, my condition has been like a roller coaster. My doctor would increase and decrease the dosage of my medications for reasons that are just too complicated to explain in a short sentence. It’s also possible that my marijuana use or other changes such as increased or decreased susceptibility to seizures, could have played a role.

Anti-seizure drugs can improve an underlying condition in some cases, but not always. I used to take anti-seizure medication, but now I eat better and exercise more. Both of these help with my epilepsy.

Conclusion

The bottom line is that toying with epilepsy can be very dangerous. I want to put you at ease by letting you know that my experiences with hemp oil have been promising thus far, but I am not an expert on the subject, and I don’t want to let my own experience or advice put you in danger.

Are you or someone in your family going through the difficult journey of epilepsy? You should try this experiment. CBD hemp oil can help ease the severity of symptoms. But, it is important to consult with your doctor before trying CBD hemp oil.
